Yeah, they are real. But I guess not meant to be used on GEDmatch. The closeness to Pygmies is due to the fact Pygmies are really archaic humans and split from the ancestors of modern Bantus more than 200.000 years ago.

If I'm not mistaken, Proto-Bantus may very well be more related to Out of Africa populations than to pure Pygmies. But it seems most Bantus carry Pygmy-like admixture.

They are almost Basal Humans. It's impossible to construct a phylogenetic tree of humanity without placing Mbuti Pygmies at the base. Their affinities with Neanderthals in GEDmatch is due to lack of OoA alleles in both of them, not because they were particularly similar. More advanced calculators would pick up the differences.

But it's funny to see the reactions. When one runs a monkey GEDmatch kit and he comes closer to SSAs people here are delighted, but when it's a Neanderthal you see all kinds of coping saying it's innacurate etc. Both are equally distant, but the narratives of dumb apricians change depending on the situation. One could easily say these calculators aren't developed for Asians, Amerindians and SSAs as well, they are heavily Eurocentric.

Yeah, probably. Most kits I've runned with actual Bantu admixture instead of just Yoruban stuff scored Pygmy.

Yep definitely but you know these types can be found also in my region of course and in all french regions, also he lives in C.France, it's possible that his wife is a central french.

I want to bump this thread to make a comment on this.

I remember a now deleted thread on chimpanzees and gorillas GEDMatch, and it was used to put down SSA by racists in this forum.

Funnily enough, Neanderthals and other ancient homo sapiens are closest to SSA. Hell, Iberomaurusians are closer to SSA than other populations.

All this means is that SSA is closer to basal human populations and would be closer to any other animal than an Asian or a European.
