All of My Tests Have Updated

All of my AncestryDNA kits have updated—my kit, my parents' kits, and my grandparents' kits (one of them is actually just my grandfather's twin, but that's as close as I'll ever get to receiving his DNA results. Although I still think 23andMe's estimates are better, Ancestry's results seem to be heading in the right direction.

What is clear is that we cannot take these categories too literally- there is some inconsistency in the specific patterns of inheritance here. Example: Your grandfather scores Portugal, your dad does not, but you do. Clearly you inherited this ancestry from you dad :)

But if we just look at this more broadly, the gist seems to be correct.

My maternal grandmother is from the U.S. Her father is from Croatia, and her mother is the daughter of a Scottish immigrant and an Irish U.S. citizen (whose family went from Ireland to Canada, and then from Canada to the U.S.).

On top accuracy, 23andMe had the decency to update everyone's results at about the same time while Ancestry just seems to randomly select people to update. A bit unprofessional. I haven't received an AncestryDNA update since August 2018.

Lukasz, a member here has done a heck of a job with ancestry reports based on the K36. Mine was on point.

But yeah, I agree the set of %'s that the K36 calc produces look sorta weird and nonsensical.
