and then increase again as you move further east
what historical migration could be the explanation for this? Is it from Balkans maybe?

They occupied most of Belarus? Any proof of that?

Ok, but aren't Cossacks more associated with southeast Ukraine rather than northwest and Belarus?

This area in question is under occupation of Russia during WW2. This caused the displacement and relocation of peoples to different parts of the Empire, and beyond. This relocation is all very recent within last 75 years or less

THIS:)
I highlighted most typical Ukrainian phenotypes. Rest are simply averages between them (those people standing).
We see Caucasus, Turanid and Gorid influences blended in different proportions.

East and south Ukraine wasn't Ukrainian. It was since the beginning (XVIII century, destroy of Crimean Khanate) settled by Russian colonists mainly.

But the more exotic types in Ukraine are not found in western Ukraine, which is more Polish influenced

Yes, this crowd is from Kiev.
There is no such phenomenon, no decrease or increase. Southwestern Ukraine simply has a significant Balkanic influence.

this ia based on outdated calcs. Belarusians and Ukrainians just have more balto-slavic drift than Russians for example who have other kind of less drifted ancestry.

Balto-Slavs have an extreme drift which makes them also look more distant from ancients than there. That is the reason why gedmatch cals show Sintashta with NW Euro-like admixture instead of NE-Euro despite Sintashta being closest to modern day Central Russian. Global25 whicj is less effected (the effects still existd here) by drift than gedmatch calcs shows actually that Norwegians are bit closer to Ukrainians than to many Finns.
