I love Agalloch

I love Agalloch too. Wouldn't really call them black metal though, but they are definitely inspired by black metal bands.

Black Metal has no nation. If it's good, it's good. If it isn't, it isn't and that's that.

Having said that, I'll take any opportunity to plug Nachtmystium:

Absu, Averse Sefira (Helix in Audience = one of the most mindfuck black metal/occult songs ever written) Xasthur and Twilight.... Leviathan and Lurker of Chalice.... Weakling.... Legions of Astaroth.... We have one of the BEST if not THE BEST black metal scenes in the fucking world.

We are way more ravenous :D Look at where we live for fucks sake....

Can't forget Judas Iscariot, a truly original band. I think Xasthur plays some of the most chilling music I've ever heard. I also am liking some of the newer stuff from Nachtmystium.

I'm hearing a few bands fusing some other elements like shoegaze and progressive rock styles with black metal, some of it sounds pretty good.

Oh my, how could I have forgotten HAVOHEJ before! "Dethrone the Son of God" is the kvltest of all kvlt albums, a truly forgotten gem of US black metal.

Havohej - Weeping in Heaven

And the kvltest song of all kvltest songs if of course the title track of that album!

Havohej - Dethrone the Son of God

I don't usually read those comments in Youtube-videos since they are usually completely useless, but I have to admit that this guy hit the nail on the head:

If you can't jerk off to lyrics like this, then YOU ARENT A TRUE METAL FAN

I briefly considered posting this in the religious music (http://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36608) thread.

But then I wondered if that wouldn't be considered trolling by some ... :chin:

Been getting back into Xasthur (from Cali, now inactive), keep trying to get out of Depressive Black Metal but it is what I always wind up going back to (big into Xasthur, Abyssic Hate, and Silencer).
