I hope they will make it without conflicts, they are in harder sitiation than I thought. They tried to escape Russian influence and then they are starting to fall into Chinese economical trap.

I think a closer relationship with China would be sensible if it weren't for the Chinese oppressing their Kazakh minority.

The main argument is that with Latin they will learn English faster. It is claimed that the Latin could better reflect the phonetic features of the Kazakh language. Following the dissolution of the USSR, countries with a predominantly Turkic-speaking population in the Caucasus and Central Asia agreed to introduce a single codified Latin alphabet containing graphic characters for some specific local phonemes
