When i made this chart my sample size was only 25. Now i have 36, and almost all of these additions(11) were I. It will turn out that Pomaks are more than half I.

You probably match some of these Pomaks which i included this graph.

I just saw your G25 results. Besides i agree with you, i can also offer you to isolate your Pomak side to see his admixture more clearly if you post coordinates.

He seems like have additional med admixture compared to a Pomak, both West and East med.

As far as I know, Karacaova is the Turkish term for that part of Paiak mountain in Central Macedonia where the Meglen Vlach live. The largest settlement and village in the area is Notia. In the 18th century the local Vlachs of Notia became Muslims. The reason for this is not very clear however. Notia was the only Vlach village in the area that became Muslim. All of these Muslim Vlachs left for Turkey in the early 20th century population exchange between Greece and Turkey.

If his father ancestry really is from Karacaova in Central Macedonia then his results with ADC: 0.25x make a lot of sense. There is already a man in the Macedonian DNA Project with ancestry from the aforementioned region and more specifically Meglen Vlach ancestry who is also I-M170 and more specifically
I-Y130323.

You can search for your Oghuz ancestors but in the end they will always be Albo, Bosniak, Greek.

It is a confusing process. But basically by removing your other half with a mathematical formula.

Are you sure about he was Pomak? Which language they were speaking? Because i thought what ***** said when i saw his results. He has huge Med input for a Pomak and seems like NA dominant over Baltic which is impossible for Pomaks.

Correct. There is even a separate ethnic group called "Karacaovalılar" in Turkey, they are all Vlach converts(numbered ~5000) who migrated Turkey.

I have this case too. It is from Turkic ancestors. We have Siberian Turk ancestry but not Eskimo whatsoever lol.

Yes, but he also has an cypriot ancestry from her mother's side. My grandmother is half cypriot but I guess her being half cypriot would not cause this much of an effect on my sample. Btw I saw some of my distant relatives(who are quite old) speaking pomak in our village in Tekirdağ years ago. So yes they were speaking in pomak language.

This explains a lot. You saw that he got Jew in some models which point out additional Levantine admixture. I thought it may be Sefarad at the beginning since they were present in Thessaloniki. But now it makes sense. I wonder the story, how a Cypriot ended up in Macedonia?

I knew there are both Pomaks and Vlachs who live around Karacaova, but now i wonder if these Pomaks have similar genetic makeup with other Pomaks or close to their Vlach neighbors.

They migrated to Turkey quite early, actually they are not muhacırs who migrated after the foundation of Turkish republic. They escaped Balkans because of war in 1890's as far as i know. So the cypriot guy never went to the Macedonia. Btw I remember reading that Karacaova pomaks are not true pomaks like the Bulgarian ones somewhere. This might be the case of adopting a slavic language and becoming muslim in the process.

Can you send me the source of it if you are able to find it? Also, may i ask your father's sect(or ancestral sect)? Vlach religious conversion occurred after the 18-19th century while Pomak one happened earlier. Pomaks converted by Alevi Dervishes(then became Sunnis) but Vlach's converted as Sunnis.

There were a migration record to a Western Thrace in 1912: "Alevi Pomak migration from the West" but didn't explain what is west, so we don't know where they came. I suspect from Macedonia though.

The other information i can give is i totally understand the spoken Pomak language of Karacaova. But i don't understand Bulgarian Pomaks totally.

I have read it on some webpage long time ago and it's informal information.(Probably eksi sozluk) I do not know about their ancestral sect but today they are Sunni's even though it seems like they do not care about sects. (In fact I'm talking about my grandmother who is definitely not secular lol). But her indifference to sects might be the result of the recent conversion to Sunni sect and that Sunni sect did not gain a strong cultural background yet. But who knows, everything i talk about is speculative after this point.
