This is a thread to discuss and post anything related to Labyrinth, David Bowie in Goblin King Form, the Escherian nature of the Underground, or things that remind you of the babe.

I'm sure I am not alone in my Bowie crotch-worshiping, so please share all you want :thumb001:

Yay! I love the dance :D

David Bowie's Dance Magic is still way cool. I remember being quite disturbed as they toss Toby about, though - but not more disturbed than I was by Jareth's tights lol o.O

The optical illusion room for the showdown is a masterful technical feat, methinks, showing just what could be achieved pre-CGI.

It's been quite a looong while since I watched this movie. I think I didn't even know who Escher and his famous stairs were at the time. :)

I even remember liking Connelly back in the time, paedo as it may sound now. :D

Yeah Zank, I admit you've beaten me now at fangirldom! ;)

I watched it just last night, hence the thread.

Now that you mention not being familiar with a lot of the film's elements at a certain age, I'm curious about how people interpret it after watching a few times, or after a few years.

Is it all in Sarah's mind? After all, a lot of the things we see in the Labyrinth are shown to have been in Sarah's room, or things she encounters while at play reading her favourite book, which just happens to have been called Labyrinth. And is Ambrosius not her own dog?

When I first saw it I went with this take, that imagination was her way of dealing with her screaming baby brother and nagging parents.

As for fangirldom, that's a battle I've long won :p

LOL. That could be a great exam about the movie with great answers! :p

I'll try and watch it again one of these days. Then I'll make a more recent review. :)

Hahaha, indeed. Specially since I am not a girl. :tongue

CGI sucks.Labyrinth is awesome.Watched it at the theatres in Burgos in the year... was it 91or 92? well films always arrived years later to my town during my childhood. I think that Labyrinth is the only film I ever watched with my mum. I think I watched it again a few years later in VHS, but for sure it was more than 13-14 years ago xD

I don't wanna watch it again. Same with Princess Bride. I want to remember them as I do know.I kinda cherish those memories. Didn't have a very cheerful upbringing

You're right, this is now between Osweo and I :D

I must agree with both your CGI and Labyrinth awesomeness thoughts.

I think that Labyrinth is the only film I ever watched with my mum.

I watched it with my dad.
He wouldn't shut up about Escher.
That man wouldn't just let me have a normal childhood :p

 Great thread!

Anyone else here ever tried to make their own personal Bog of Eternal Stench, mixing dogshits gathered on the end of sharp sticks in a hole dug in the earth and filled with a hosepipe and stirred till all gloopy?

:desert:

:suomut:

Well, if we're competing, I assure you my victory would be swift, were I to post one of the myriad photos of me dressed up like Jared, tights and all.

I fear, however, that I would as quickly then be upstaged by Pallantides, our resident Konung of hypersexualised fancy-dress. :(

... things that remind you of the babe.

"What babe?"

;)

I did. But with "cagarrutas de oveja" rather than dogshit, buried in a hole, with insects and other small creatures remains, all of that seasoned with some of my mum's most "stenchy" cosmetics and, cigarette leaves and mud. Bloop Bloop.

What's there not to love about Labyrinth - especially when you have the collaboration of Jim Henson and Brian Froud! :thumb001: I remember my sister and I taking her two boys to see it back in 1986. It was probably inappropriate for them but I was enthralled, particularly with the Goblin King.

I saw this for the first time just a few years ago, I can't believe I spent so much of my life not even knowing it existed! 20 Labyrinth free years I will never be able to get back :(

Labyrinth is wonderful, as is Legend and The Dark Crystal. Of the three, The Dark Crystal is my favourite, and Pallantides looks like Jen to me! :D

That's Jen on the right.
