When my grandparents came to the US Greeks, like Italians, Poles, Slavs were considered recent arrivals and encountered resistance from earlier immigrants (namely Irish or Germans). Overall the early 20th century immigrants were accepted because of their commitment to American values and work ethic. There was some backlash against these immigrants (by KKK). Since the backlash of the 1920s (directed against those considered non American a) directed at Slavs, Southern Europeans, etc., there has been a gradual assimilation (from the 1930's on) and all Euros are pretty much assimilated. As an American of Greek descent most of my relatives are a mix of Southern and Central and/or NW Euro.

Shakira isnt considered attractive in America or in Latin America, very basic

I assumed Sofia Vergara was Lebanese because of her curvy body, which isn't typical of Latin American women in the States. But honestly I thought I read that she was part Lebanese, but looking into now, there's no reference to that, but that she has naturally blonde hair, which is also part of the point I'm trying to make. In the US, "Latinas" being hot is a stereotype that's dying away because the phenotype of Latin American immigrants is changing (more Indian, lower classes pouring in).

Shakira and Selma Hayek were always considered physically "hot" in the States, I don't know why you would think otherwise.

The "sexiness" you're talking about is about attitude, and it extends beyond Latin America to Spain.
