View Full Version : classify Alexander the Great
I know he has been done many times but let's revisit. I think Ancient Macedonians had as much Steppe as South Slavs. He look like a Steppe+Upper Paleolithic(CM) mixture

He is exactly that how I imagined (Proto-European + Neo Syrian)
Curly hair was brought to Europe by Anatolian Farmers.
I bet his autosomal would be mix of 3 strong West Med, East Med and Atlantic
He is basically like us minus all Slavic admixture.

That guy has similar head like Julius Caesar, he looks like someone from Ancient Gaul, and has similarities with Dying Gaul.
If he was a father of Alexander, then he obviously married Anatolian women.
His hair doesn't look Med at all.

If we are 75% to Mycenean then they are 90%

His profile on coins always reminded me of Liam Neeson.

A Dinaric/Noric element seems dominant as well probably an Alpine one.

I think this is possibly the closest look he had as he was very short and stubby like his father and that sculpture reminds me something from a shortass

He lived 336–323 BC, Mycenaean Greece c. 1600 – c. 1100 BC.
There should not be a huge difference in those 700-1000 years.

Probably not much different than IA Bulgaria and Empuries classical Greeks. After all, ancient Macedonia was located right between those two people, it would be foolish to expect they would be very different genetically. The ancient Macedonians weren't a genetically preserved island in the middle of the Balkans. They mixed with all those other people, including other mainland Greeks, Thracians, Paeonians, Illyrians, Pelasgians and even Scythians.

Roman copy of Lysipus' work. One of the most credible works for the exterior of Alexander, the Louvre. Lizip was also the personal sculptor of Alexander the Great.

He doesn't.
He is mix of proto-european (Sardinian like) + Native Anatolian + Modern Greek.
Steppe has absolutely nothing with mediterranean nations. Steppe has been ridiculed by Greeks in so many writings and stories, it's impossible that those people themselves originate from Steppe.
Where are their Gods in Steppe?
Greek Gods are akin to Syrian and Egyptian ones not Steppe people religions.
