Rauna Castle was built in the 14th century. It was one of the main residences of the Archbishop of Riga during the winter season - from September to February, it withstood nine attacks from Russian, Polish, Swedish and German troops and is currently one of the largest and best preserved castle ruins in Latvia.
Currently, the northern part of the castle ruins is being preserved, where a lookout tower has been built.

Veckalsnava (also Kalsnava) Lutheran Church was a church in Madona district, Kalsnava parish, which is currently in ruins. The church is located near the highway P37 (Pļaviņas-Madona) and Kalsnava lake.

The chronicle of the Kalsnava church says that the first Veckalsnava Lutheran church was a very old wooden building, for which the tower has long been removed. Even according to the church's books, its age cannot be determined. The first church in Veckalsnava died in 1643. Details of the current stone church appear in 1774, when notes were made in the church's book about bringing stones to the new church. In 1830, they still stand unused, but later the construction of the current stone church was gradually started, which was completed in 1835, when the new church was also consecrated. From 1908 to 1918, the pastor of Kalsnava parish was the Latvian writer and politician Andrievs Niedra.

In 1944, during World War II, the church was destroyed. After the restoration of Latvia's independence, the ruins of the church and the surrounding area were cleaned up. The ruins of the church are now used as venues for sacred music concerts and wedding ceremonies.
