Can pass but as atypical. Both Pál Veres and Milorad Pavić look more Hungarian than Serbian.

Milorad Pavić is from Vojvodina (just born in Belgrade), his paternal line came to the Vojvodina from Žumberak in 19th century https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Žumberak_Mountains
Serbs from Žumberak converted on Greek-Catholicism and Roman Catholicism in the second half of 17th and 18th century. Paternal ancestors of M. Pavić also converted first on Greek-Catholicism and later on Roman Catholicism. They returned to Orthodoxy when they moved to the Vojvodina.

His ancestors were Catholics, Pavić comes from Pavao, Catholic name. So they only reconverted. First conversion was to orthodoxy.

One Serbian family with surname Pavić which lived 100 m from me originated from here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Đevrske

Milorad Pavić knew very well own origin he spoke about that.

Pavić are Catholics from Dubrovnik region, and all Serbs native west of drina were originally Catholic. But that you already know.
Pave (nickname for Pavao) is typical name from Dubrovnik.

I found female name Pava among Dalmatian Serbs in documents from 18th and 19th century.
