Have you ever heard of Uzbekistan? Would you know where to place it on a map? Could you name its capital? If you answered all three questions correctly, congratulations! You’re an expert in international geography. If not, don’t worry, it’s normal, Uzbekistan is as remote as it is unknown. Lately, however, things are starting to change. Uzbekistan has gone from having one of the most terrifying dictatorships in the world under Islam Karimov to opening its doors to the world. In this video we’ll tell you a story you won’t want to miss.

I think it's still behind Turkmenistan in this regard.

Btw, it's very funny, but I've seen Uzbek vine in one of local shops.

Funny that being the agricultural exporter, they import many goods like packaged food, prepared, canned food from Russia and Kazakhstan. Still not many investments into their light industry, seems that country is not stable and it could be any shit happens there. But to import wine for them is too weird, so they work on export and drink themselves. I saw bottles with oriental styled logo "Samarkand". I hope it is halal))

Uzbek pilaf is the food of gods. I like to think that my attempts at cooking it are quite good too.

After traveling there and seeing how wasy was to "settle" in Tashkent (lol, taking public buses after just 2 days there and people thinking I was a local all the time), I do think it's a normal place to travel. Of course I didn't face all the problems tourists face (paying 10x more of anything on a Bazaar, people stalking you at commercial places to sell weird things etc), so it was nice at all (but I must say that both Kazakhs and Tajiks are easier to deal at all).
