Doesn't look White but certainly not the caricature of the "dark-skinned" Southern Asian or whatever.

I agree he doesn't look White, but at the same time he is certainly light-skinned for an Indian-Sri Lankan mix.

Yes no dark skinned at all, he has a skin pigmentation that a southern euro could easily have.

are you sure the first dude is srilankan sinhalese? He could be burgher who're partial to full portuguese. He looks full iranian or caucasian or something. Pretty sure his srilankan side is mostly of portuguese burgher descent

and the pak dude is NI + some alpine and IA

This is what Wiki says about the first guy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ranil_Jayawardena#Early_life_and_career

Anyway, it is nice that a lighter-than-average person is being questioned for his ethnicity for a change, usually it is darker-than-average people who are.:thumb001:

Ranil has a look that is recurring among certain Punjabis or J & K folks but for an indigenous Srilankan , I still have to come across (granted however not indepth familiarity with them) .

Ethnicity + varna (caste) are at the root for variation in look in India , generally . For eg. upon keen observations , Uttarakhandis of Brahmin & Kshatriya varna can overall* look noticeably different from say Biharis of Brahmin & Kshatriya varna & both would from Punjabis of Brahmin & Kshatriya varna . Again upon keen observations , Punjabis of said varna can overall look noticeably different from Punjabi of Shudra varna & both would from Punjabi of Jat background who are avarna (i.e. outside of traditional Hindu varna system) .

*there can be overlappings in some individual cases also mind you

First one does look pred Euro to me. That kind of “off-white” look. Atypical for a Sri Lankan if he’s not a Burgher. Looks like some Persians I’ve seen.

Probably Indo-Iranid for the second one.
