I doubt you have met a lot of north africans where you live ...this question is more for west europeans like french,belgians,spaniards,italians. Americans tend to have a very distorded view of "africans"

Well, I have spent time in North Africa and plenty of time in Southern Europe. My point is that he has a 'generalized' look that, while he may easily pass as NA, he could pass as plenty of other things... he certainly wouldn't seem out-of-place in North Africa...

As I stated before, North Africans(maghrebis) cluster more closely with middle easterners, especially SW Asiatics like Levantines(especially Palestinians and Jordanians) and Arabians than to Europeans as a whole. I have showed the 2013 paper on North Africans on that. The genetic isolated groups of the Levant like the Druze and the Christians are in between SW Asiatic and West Asiatic clusters due to admixtures from the bronze and iron age periods while Palestinians, Jordanians and Syrian Muslim got recent admixtures from Egypt, Arabia, West Asia and even European to some extent.
