Any particular theme Beorn?

No particular theme as such, but it should remain within the realm of my meta-ethnic identity. ie: Brythonic/West Saxon.

I voted The Cautious Kelt...

but I'm not sure ...we will miss BWW ...:(

Looks good. :)

Can you name a particularly notable character from that kingdom?

Æmeric

Whatever you change it to, try to keep it reasonably short, nothing longer then 6 or 7 letters. And something easy to spell. How about Avon, it's an English river with a Welsh name, flows through your hometown, is only 4 letters & easy to remember the spelling. Or you can be creative & be Ævon.:thumb001:

If it wasn't for those pesky politicians dividing us Somerset folk from the Gloucester folk and the Bristol bumpkins, I would say that was a good suggestion, but Avon is a by-word for absolutely nothing these days and is therefore nothing more than a quaint word I have educated my children with whilst crossing the river-river Avon.

I didn't add this to the final poll, but perhaps Æcwellan? I know how to use 'alt-146' now ;)

Come to think of it, I like the Somerset theme.

Have got a couple on my head

Mendepe

Monith

Edit, just realised, it's a bit too similar to Mynydd/Menydd!

Change it to one word, and if you must have two words then let it be short.

Haefodmann Blæc Heorte is out of the question. The Cautious Kelt is fine if you remove the 'The'.

Bad idea. He will then, by default, have to move to America and start selling beauty goo to aging women.

I agree with Psy!

And good gods, what's with the spelling?!! If it gets too bloody complicated I'll just end up calling you Beorny anyway!!

If you are to change it, then I think a nice simple but classy name like "Somerset" would do just nicely. Very manly, dignified, and easy to write!! Gee, I could even picture you with a pipe and fine whiskey with such a name....and perhaps even a cardigan!:eek::eek: :D :tongue

...Aemma

In all fairness it took me quite a while to get accustomed to BeornWulfWer. 12 letters long, with 2 uppercase W in the middle - quite disrupted when trying to type it out.:rolleyes2: You should let it be out of consideration for those of us who finally mastered typing it out with ease.

As for 'Haefodmann Blæc Heorte', if you change it to that I will remove you from my friends & contacts list. Haefodmann Blæc Heorte is just way to long & clumbersome to bother with.

Cut & paste is a cop out. It should be reserved for large amounts of text or for urls. Or for some of those really ackward Polish names, the ones with lots of consonants but short on vowels.

What does Haefodmann Blæc Heorte mean?

'Haefodd' is head and 'mann' needs no explaining.

It's literal translation is 'Captain Black Heart.'

How about Beorn Again?

I like it. Made me laugh. But not a name I want.

Ok, so...since you seem to be undecided, here's my two cents:

We have Lyfing and Mrs Lyfing, Psychonaut and Mrs Psychonaut, and so on and so forth....you know where I'm getting at, already...

So how'bout you make the difference and revive those marvellous matriarchical traditions, and call yourself:

Mr. Ceallach ? :D

For one thing, she is going to love it , and surely you'll love how she reciprocates all that affection you show her in public :wink

(Someone will correct me if I am wrong)

It is pronouned as spelled, phoentically. WIth the "W's" sounding as "V's".

In the words of Roy Walker: "Say what you see".

The 'W's' are pronounced as they are in present English, though. (Sorry, SuuT :D)

New name:
Avon is a lovely English name, but it reminds me too much of the Avon cosmetics they used to sell door to door in the US. They also sold costume jewelry. They had good products, but whenever the name comes up I think of the old TV ad where they show a woman ringing a doorbell, ding dong, and saying Avon calling.
I use the name Arundel, because it is a good English name, and I like the sound of it. I have Arundels in my English ancestry.

I was hoping they hadn't heard of the Avon ladies in England. Would have been funny if BWW had selected it.:D
