Even today, we can see traces of steppe pastoralism everywhere. So, islamists have always been in struggle with turks. Add the secular reforms of the republic to this. Well, they can try but it was never succesful as it was in arab countries. For example, most women in erdogans party are non-hijab women. This lady is somewhat a symbol for their "victory" over seculars.

I first saw her today :) She looks close to my mother, a cute asiatic alpine with maybe slight taurid influence.
