The K13 average for Ashkenazim is 34.61% East Med, K15 - 26.61%. This person scores a mind-blowing 45% and 36% respectively! Maybe some kind of data bug? I believe most Lebanese and Palestinians are in the low to mid 40s.

East Med is related to West Med, Red Sea and West Asian so maybe it eats up some of them. Also there's variation because you inherit alleles randomly. At last who knows maybe he has some other ancestry.

2. What does he get on his JTest?
3. His Red Sea is low and West Asian is below average. Red Sea has a greater southern pull than East Med, so some rebalancing likely went on there. East Med isn't the sole metric for that region. His total East Med+West Asian+Red Sea = 45.3+9.37+4.29=58.96. That's not impossible for what I've seen. I've seen a couple alleged German Jewish samples score that high and maybe higher. This guy can't be fully German Jewish going back to the 1300's though, judging by his East-Central Euro and Volga-Ural in K36. What does he score on the JTest?

Shouldn't be any issues then unless they recently changed to some odd chip. I've seen AncestryDNA give really north shifted Ashkenazi results and their SNP count was always higher than 23andMe's. Don't see any sign of a bug. I'm guessing 3/4s German Jewish, 1/4 Ukrainian Jewish. Could be part Ashkenazi and part some other kinda Western Jewish. You could check his Gedcom and not share the surnames with us. He plots just south of me on the K15 plot and all of my great grandparents are Eastern Ashkenazim. This kinda result is certainly possible.

Probably Jews from your area are/were a bit more Middle Eastern considering the proximity to Iberia and Italy.

I have the surnames and maiden names of all my great great grandparents and all are German and French sounding. currently there is a large Sephardi population in France but I know the Jews of Alsace-Lorraine were always mostly Ashkenazi and I believe most Sephardi's recently immigrated there. My ancestors left for the united states in the mid to late 1800s. We arrived a little bit earlier than most Eastern Ashkenazi and they came in much larger numbers. Yekkes, who didn't maintain their own traditions while in the US, ended up marrying one another and then producing you,who converted to Catholicism and needs weeks to answer basic questions. Yekkes are always on time, especially pure ones.

Yekkes were no where need near as religious as Eastern Ashkenazim many married Non-Jews my Great Great Great Grandfather named his second son Julius Ceaser Roos/Rose he named him after a Roman other relatives even named there sons after there living fathers. Most of my ancestors were relatively secular all of them were buried in reform cemeteries. my Great Great Great Grandfather Solomon Roos has more non-Jewish descendants then Jewish ones. I know many Yekkes did not maintain there tradition very often. That is why i am rare the fact that I ended being only Descended from Yekkes to my knowledge even with them being there for 5 and even 6 generations. Despite there seemingly lack of Jewishness they still have a few fully Yekke descendants. I am absolutely aware that I don't have a very usual background as an American of Jewish descent. I knew this since high school. It is absolutely not true that Reform German Jews never kept there traditions they were just more assimilated with Non-Jewish American and Germans. I absolutely understand your doubts though
