Me, my mom, my mom's sister got a flush reaction after alcohol consumption, i turn very red (always.) and i read this online.

Alcohol flush reaction is best known as a condition that is experienced by people of East Asian descent. According to the analysis by HapMap project, the rs671 (ALDH2*2) allele of the ALDH2 responsible for the flush reaction is rare among Europeans and Sub-Saharan Africans.

i'm very confused, because we have literally 0 asian in our DNA. I've always thought that flush reaction is strictly Asian but we also had it.

EDIT: also personally i get stomach ache & headache after a while if i drink, i don't feel joy from it at all.

Wait so this flush means you turn red? This is nothing uncommon between Europeans. Personally I dont experience any major side effects in the begining, I also have pretty high toleration for alcohol.

Ah so it is common. I just thought it was unusual because i always saw people refer to it as the "asian flush" that is more centered around asian people and rarely around europeans.
I'm glad to know its not the case.

I know some guys that are all time red, because of huge loads of alcohol consumption, could be hoax but I heard about this many times. Asians are maybe more prone, who knows their skin is a bit different so redness is maybe more visible, but they are not known for mass alcohol consumption.

You might be simply turning red from being hotter than usual, which is different from the East Asian flush reaction. They light up like lanterns out of nowhere and that comes from a toxic chemical reaction.

Yellow people can turn red, luckily for people like you and me, we can drink as much as we want, Wogs are darker than red so it is invisible on us. :D
