Are there any movies forbidden in your own country?

Italy in general is very free, but I have found this list of forbidden/censored movies or movies who have been censored in the past, and... It's interesting. Here the list:

Citizen Berlusconi, never strasmissed on Public TV; sent only on Pay TV once in 2009.

Bye Bye Berlusconi, never distributed in Italy where it can be watched only if downloaded from the Internet.

Mechanical Orange. It has never been trasmissed on Tv until 1999 for Pay TV and until 2007 for Public Tv, but it could be bought almost in every newsagent or video shop.

Last Tango In Paris, banned until 1987.

Eyes Wide Shut in the Italian version lacks a sex scene.

1408 in the Italian version has an other end (he doesn't die, the firemen save him from the fire and bring him out of the room).

OIL a documentary about enviromental damages produced by the farms Sarroch and Saras.

They were called Briganti (Li chiamarono Briganti), a movie that revisits the history of the Unity, in particular the role of the Southern bands that fought against the Reunification and that were therefore called "Briganti" ("bandits"). It's almost unfindable in Italy.

Is it still banned there?

I've seen it, three times, uncut.:P The only bad thing about it is the animal cruelty. Apart from that, it's not that shocking.:coffee:

Finland's list here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_banned_films#Finland) (none of these films are banned now though, although the list does not indicate the year the ban ended for most of them).

One film missing from the list is Men Behind the Sun (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093170/), however.

EDIT:

Also, I believe John Carpenter's remake of The Thing from Outer Space was very briefly banned upon its release. I couldn't find any sources for that, though.

By 'Mechanical Orange', do you mean 'A Clockwork Orange'? If so, the director of that film, Stanley Kubrick, banned it here in the UK himself. The ban was lifted when he died in 1999.

Only during the right wing dictatorship. After 1974, there was no more censorship.

I don't think America has banned any movies. But that movie "the Faces of Death" is pretty controversial.

Bumfights is also banned in Canada. I agree with that one. Such behaviour should not be encouraged.

Agreed. I think real violence in movies for entertainment reasons should not be tolerated.:)
