No. Civilization: Persia, Frank Kingdom, Caliphate, Japan etc

You are talking about Civ V right? It depends on what you are trying to play really. If you are going for a military game there are many to pick most are OK. Personally I like playing Austria, France, Siam, Poland, Persia, Ottomans. These are all decent for strategic victories

In AOE I mostly used Brits cause every house spawned a villager, then I used Portuguese when I played ocean wars, or Spainards cause Rodeleros looked badass and were cheap XD
Normal wise, I tend to choose always southern European civilizations on Magyars.

I like playing as the Egyptians in age of mythology, their units looked cool. The Greeks were kind of O.P

I used the both always. The Nordic civilization was only good to use in short games, but I like to play at least hour, so greeks and egyptians were more type.
