People from Romania don't score as much "Balkan". Balkan on MyHeritage peaks in Slavic West Balkan countries and Moldova. He is more North-shifted than a lot of people from Moldova, let alone Romania. The one who has a lot of DNA relatives from Romania is my mom actually, probably due to my maternal grandpa being born right at the border in Cahul.

I don't think that it would change much. I score almost exactly like my father, but there's also a bit more East Euro and MENA from my mother. I think our K13 results make sense, if North Atlantic and Baltic are summed. My dad and I just got more North Atlantic, which also manifests itself as NW Euro on MyHeritage, whereas my brother and mom have more Baltic and considerably less North Atlantic, which results in them scoring more East Euro and no NW Euro.

Turanic traits make him to look like that. Especially people with such traits composed a big part of locals swarthy types, despite many of them will not score any mongoloid, which I find very weird.

His case is not even extreme, as I see even heavier Turanic examples everyday on the street. But I doubt that for any of these people this will manifest itself in the genotype. That's just an ancient marker of Hunnic, Tatar, Mongol, Cuman and other Turkic folk who passed through, raided and settled on this territory. I'm pretty sure that any of us will have at least one ancestor in the distant past.

I would think that it is, but that doesn't necessarily indicate recent geneflow, as my brother's and Chris596's results show. It's probably ancient or medieval. It might not even trace from a Turkic/Mongolic source, but from extra ANE.

In Russians is old, from Finno-Ugrics, is more balanced and not very screaming, in MD is recent. Here was almost continuously the presence (except the period between second half of 14th century and first half of 16th century) of Turkic populations in southern steppe regions, in 16-17th centuries in the lands ocupied by Turks moved Nogais, the most swartiest and wogiest steppe nomad population, and these ones clearly had some minor impact in that region, its seen even in surnames. In the north moved some Lipka tatars after Turks occupied northern territories after Russian 1711 failed campaign here, but here is not very visible. Plus here was such thing as Tatar slavery, some Tatars were Slaves here, they are mentioned till early 16th century, some of them for sure assimilated into major population, the rest into Gypsy population.

Tatar slaves? Interesting. Usually it was the other way around - those Muslim mofos would raid our lands and capture our folks to sell them into Ottoman slavery. John the Russian (Иоанн Русский, one of my favorite Orthodox saints) was one of them, a captive from what is now Ukraine.

European mulattoes with white fathers are also significantly rarer, maybe in the UK and France not so much given their demographis. So that's bizarre.

Yep, and yes most of the students are male, but there's also the ocassional female. He's half African, but was raised solely in Russian at home and Romanian through the education system. Good guy, used to play a lot of football together, as our families were living on the opposite sides of the road.
