Micrognathism (small chin)

Micrognathism is a condition where the jaw is undersized. My father and I have some micrognathism and I wonder if this condition is inherent or it just depends on environmental factors during the growth. Do you have any idea?

I think its genetic. Me and everyone in my family have protuding chins.
