Researchers just found a powerful gene variant for height. Common in Peru, it is not found in European populations.
The team identified a previously unknown, population-specific variant of the FBN1 gene (E1297G). The variant, found exclusively in individuals of Native American ancestry, showed a striking association with lower height.

I read it before. Its correlated with Altitude adaptation/

So now we know that is not the result of a diet thing.
5 ft 2.63 inches is the avg height. Damn that is tall!

I thought that myself but it seems it's not significant.

Its linked with Altitude control. They also have heamoglobins with stronger binding potential for O2 that regular folks around the world. Among the Quechua people of the Altiplano, there is a significant variation in NOS3 (the gene encoding endothelial nitric oxide synthase, eNOS), which is associated with higher levels of nitric oxide in high altitude. Nuņoa children of Quechua ancestry exhibit higher blood-oxygen content (91.3) and lower heart rate (84.8) than their counterpart school children of different ethnicity, who have an average of 89.9 blood-oxygen and 88–91 heart rate. High-altitude born and bred females of Quechua origins have comparatively enlarged lung volume for increased respiration.

If you are tall in the Andes you will probably die young.
They need genetic adaptation to their environment.

I wonder if Native Andean will cope with COVID-19 better than regular white/black folks?

So far we are doing really bad but it's mostly attitude over genes so far.

Given the rapid changes in European height over the centuries, it obviously does have something to do with diet.

"a gene variant found in almost 5 percent of Peruvians reduces height by 2.2 centimeters"
So 1 out of 20 Peruvians is 178cm instead of 180cm?
And this made such breaking news? LOL.
