People who share the same geography, live in the same country and due contacts in the history resemble to each together. So for someone who have nothing to do with this cultural and ethnographical space, everyone look like each other and the can’t ( but also they don’t want) differ between those people. Often this type of threads show non representative examples of people for their ethnicity.

They all have noble look.

Because they are politicians and diplomats.

1. Caspioid Iranid (could be Mazendaran, Azeri or Kurdish)
2. Alpinoid Irano-Nordoid (Mazendaran or Azeri)
3. Iranid (Kurdish or Persian, Southwestern look)
4. Robust Irano-Nordoid (Kurdish most likely)

Guessed it all right ... They all have some very prominent hint of their origin.

There are like mild level hints in their facial features. First man is Azeri Turk from Urmia ... Look at his eyes and eyebrows. Mazandarani in this group can be caught by lighter skin and Alpine like nose. Persian must be the most Iranid type head shaped. Kurdish will have higher Nordoid/CM than others.

In this region, everyone is a mutt but somehow origin can be traced by features to some extent.

IMO 1st one is easy to tell of his Azeri Ancestry. He is actually very Azeri looking.

2nd guy comes from one of the most corrupt families in Iran and he looks rather Mazandarani. He was born in Najaf but his family hails from Amol in Mazandaran. I agree with you.

3rd guy looks western Iranian. He is a Lur from Mamssan county in Fars province. His look can be found in IMO in Persians, Kurds, and Lurs.

4th guy is of khorasani Kurd father and Persian Mashadi mother. IMO TBH he looks like a light Persian rather than a Kurd. Several Kurds also agree with me on that. He does not look Kurdish.

You make a very good point.

Iran is synonymous with Persia. All ethnic identities in Iran are subsets of that Persian identity. Iran is one of the oldest countries in the world. That is how Iran should be viewed. The European view of national identity does not work in Iran. I recall as a kid I went to Tabriz and visited the Mausoleum of Poets in that city https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maqbaratoshoara#:~:text=Maqbarat%2Do%2Dshoara%20(P ersian,district%20of%20Tabriz%20in%20Iran.

Since Tabriz is home to more Persian poets than most other cities in Iran.

There are four poets in Persian literature that are considered greatest that the rest. Ganjavi ( he was from Ganja Azerbaijan), Rumi ( he was from Balkh Afghanistan), Ferdowsi ( he was from Tus Khorasan (Iran) ), and lastly Hafez (he was from Shiraz, Fars). Only two are from present-day Iran.

They can pass in the Levant very easily, but not in Arabia or North Africa though.

In fact, that would have been my first guess that he was an Iranian Kurd.

A month ago I would have said your statement is a stretch but I was totally surprised to see that the Iraqi-Kurmanji Kurd sample formed a clade with the whole Iranian cluster consisting of 100 Iranian samples from all over Iran (recent study) !

All samples (Including Iranian cluster) with a p-value > 0.01 form a clade with the Iraqi Kurd which is a far cry from the other country clusters
