The overall direction is pretty right (Northeast Europe), but so far no one has guessed correctly.

My guess: Komi.

Are you really Komi? Did you find this forum because of all of Laag's threads about Komis?

North East-Central Europe? I' d say Hungary but really he fits in a lot of places.

Not quite, but ethnically speaking you're pretty much right - he's Finno-Ugric.

Also, yes, I really am an ethnic Komi (though I sadly do not speak the language)

His family comes from Pskov oblast. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pskov_Oblast But yeah, he can fake some Russian- Finnish mix of some sort.

Some Estonians can look similar. He has own strange look to be honest. Looks a bit like Harrison Ford or Roger Penrose or something. But like more Russian looking of course.

To my eyes he looks exactly typical for the region he is from

I'd say he looks like someone from the many Finnic minorities in Russia (Karelians, Veps, Izhora, Setu) or a Northwest Russian (which is often the exact same thing except assimilated into mainstream Russian culture).

I mean, Pskov region does border Estonia after all, so that makes sense.

You don't look like someone from that region in reality.

And my username is actually a Finnish word and is pronounced like 'you-muh-lah'.

Kinda. It could explain certain individuals possibly but in general people from there seem to be just Russians. Baltic influenced Russians.

It's also important to know from which part of the region one's family is from. Most people from there are, in fact, descendants of the (possibly West) Slavic tribe of Krivichi, but those from the far Southwest (where the border lies) are usually either ethnic Setu or some sort of assimilated Setu.
