Don't know his background, but his surname is Scottish origin. I'm not sure if he has any other ancestry. I think he could fit in with British Isles types like Seth MacFarlane. He's dated actresses like Hayden Panettiere and Jessica Szohr.

I actually thought he looked Iberian when I first saw him.

He’s from California, so maybe he has some kind of Latino ancestry. Possibly even Jewish or another type of Mediterranean background.

Unless his surname is an Anglicization, he's likely part Scottish/Anglo. Maybe he's part Mexican which explains his look.

Actress Miranda Cosgrove use to always say she was of British Isles and French ancestry, until people online found out that one of her great grandparents was Mexican, which explained her Amerindian influenced look. She herself doesn't seem to be aware of this though and still maintains her British Isles + French ancestry claim to this day.

I agree with the Iglesias thing, but Iglesias is mixed race (50% Asian).

So, in strict term he is less than a castizo. Iglesias is something between a mestizo and a castizo. Not a true Med, despite he really mostly looks like one. But not a true Med.
