View Full Version : Eurostat estimates: Latvia’s second quarter GDP growth – the highest in EU

In the second quarter of 2011, the European Union (EU) member states and the eurozone’s gross domestic product (GDP) is likely to expand 2%, compared to the previous quarter. The largest quarterly GDP growth was registered in Latvia (2.2%), according to Eurostat estimates.

Baltic news, News from Latvia, BNN.LV, BNN-NEWS.COM, BNN-NEWS.RUWhereas, compared to the second quarter of 2010, the registered growth is likely to hit 1.7%.

In the second quarter, the U.S. GDP rose 0.3%, while Japan’s GDP dropped 0.3%, compared to the first quarter.

So far the largest second-quarter GDP growth, compared to the previous quarter, was reported in Latvia (2.2%) and Estonia (1.8%). While in annual terms, Estonia (8.4%), Lithuania (5.9%) and Latvia (5.7%) are currently in the lead.
