Érdekes. Engem sosem gondoltak külföldi kinézetűnek (én sem tartom magam annak). Tavaly amikor hajdúszoboszlón voltunk, tele volt a fürdő lengyelekkel, románokkal meg ukránokkal, lehet a külföldiek még többen is voltak, mint a magyarok. A magyar személyzet volt, hogy angolul beszélt hozzám. Mindez csak azért mert turistákkal teli hely volt, egyébként ugyanaz a srác szerintem magyarul szólt volna hozzám ha máshol, egy nem turistákkal teli helyen futunk össze. Olyan is volt mintha a lengyelek furán néztek volna rám, amikor meghallották hogy magyarul beszélek(nem hozzájuk), de lehet csak azért mert szimplán a magyar nyelv fura volt nekik xD

I did. My own aunt (father's sister) who inherited my grandpa's mediterranean look was taken for a gypsy a few times when she was younger.

I'm rating people on how common they look, not how stereotypically hungarian they look. I am not interested in foreigner's stereotypes. You could argue from an austrian, croatian or romanian point of view Mr.G's father and maybe even Chris are "stereotypically hungarian", but they're not really common here. I noticed hungarians in countries that surround Hungary have this reputation of being turanids.

I get that you're doing what the "common" Hungarian is around, and I agree that if you pulled a Hungarian from a bag they might not look like Chris. Point being is that it's not as rare as some say, regardless.

Also I doubt the people saying "Chinese" literally meant Chinese, but they probably meant it as a tongue-in-cheek joke. I've been called Eastern by some friends and I don't think I look as eastern as Chris. I simply have a more hooded (not monolid) eyes, sort of like István Csukás from the side or when I smile, and I belive his are accentuated simply because he is overweight.

If they did actually mean it to Chris with sincerity, then they never saw a Chinese man or they're genuinely handicapped.

Then again he has a generic look not specifically hungarian, aging also conceals one's ethnic features: old people tend to end up looking more similar in every european ethnicity than they were at their youth. Mate, most people don't care much about Gypsies, if they behave like regular people and look after themselves. That applies even for those who look full Gypsy. A full Gypsy stands out phenotypically, but if the person has roots in that country and is culturally integrated, then they are less likely to be perceived as foreign than someone who's moved over from another country.

It depends. If someone who has a foreigner face combined with dark skin or darker than the average here, then it can happen (unfortunately). I wouldn't guess you to be Gypsy/Romani but don't base a whole country on my opinion.
