Vitebsk is located in North-Eastern Belarus, closer to Russia than to borders with Latvia or Lithuania. I will later make a thread about Minsk or Brest.

IMHO they pass better in my country than people from Homel in my previous thread about people from Belarus. (https://www.theapricity.com/forum/showthread.php?328010-Classify-place-rank-countries-for-these-from-Homel-Belarus&highlight=Homel)

Countries to rank: Ukraine, Russia, Finland, Poland, Ukraine, Moldova, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Germany, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Denmark, Finland, The Netherlands, German. You can group together or omit some.

They seem to pass better in Poland because their pigmentation is more typical. Also I don't see many pred. Baltid but some mixes with North Pontid or Pontid. I can some Dinarid/Norid in some people as well but not in big number

I think there is a chunk of them that fits Proto-Nordid or East Nordid descriptions too.

They look mostly Polish to me.

Many of them stand out as more eastern looking than what is common for Poles and quite clearly lack certain elements that are easy to found in Poland , but they are among the more 'Polish' looking Eastern Slavs for sure.

All the major cities in Belarus used to be majority Jewish. Wouldn't be shocked if some of these people had a Jewish great grandparent.

Interesting, it does not seem particularly visible save for a couple of individuals in how they look but it has to be diluted by now.

Yeah, like transitional between Poles and Russians with some looking completely Polish. Some do look a bit meddish/Jewish tinged like others have pointed out.

Obviously majority won't have it, but in large group pictures, it's not unlikely that a couple will.

At the turn of the 20th century

Gomel: 55% Jewish
Vitebsk: 52% Jewish
Minsk: 52% Jewish
Grodno: 64-68% Jewish
Mogilev: 52% Jewish
Brest: 67% Jewish

Pinsk: 74% Jewish

edit: wrong thread

I doubt it's a big number here though, probably tiny minority have recent Jewish ancestor.

+ I bet that like half of these people come from villages around anyway, or their parents at least.

That's a good point. If much of the population has since been out numbered or replaced by nearby villagers, then such ancestry will be pretty rare.

Belarus - 1st place to pass
Poland
Russia
Ukraine
Baltic countries in general
Finland
Slovakia
Moldova
Hungary
Czech Republic
West European/Balkan countries in general (hard to decide where they can pass better, some of them would look too foreign, maybe as a group they can still pass better in the Balkans)
