The racial characteristic of the Nenets undoubtedly has a Western (Europeoid) orientation in comparison with the pronounced Mongoloid groups, which allows it to be considered in the framework of Uralic race. However, as part of the Uralic race, the Nenets occupy one of the most extreme Eastern (Mongoloid) positions.


According to the descriptive features, the Nenets clearly differ from the Mongoloid peoples but maintaining the most Mongoloid position among the Uralic groups by physical type.
