He is a politician in Vienna and has his own facebook page. He is Stadrat in Vienna. Dont know what that means in English.

i think councilman yes. rat means council. city council.

Yes.. that makes him an alderman in British English. Wethouder in Dutch. Lit. translation: Gesetzhalter.

I looked into it, and "Stadrat" translates (in English) into Councilor, or Councilman; "Stadtrat" on the other hand, translates into City Council.


Yes.. that makes him an alderman in British English. Wethouder in Dutch. Lit. translation: Gesetzhalter.

I sometime just call them Members of the City Council, but that's just my casual way of talking about it. Mayors (Bürgermeister) are often in more urbanized areas.
