Question about G25 genetic distance!!

I have one question from G25 calculator and genetic distance, what it's a accurate distance to see better results???

Because I has one cousin who is half Lebanese and half Northern Italian/Spanish, the results around 1.8 give correct admixture to him, but under that give Iraqi for example in middle eastern side, he isn't Iraqi or has Iraqi background in his family but genetic distance to Iraqi fit more close

I want know if less genetic distance give more accurate distance or have a reasonable number to see the correct results, because in his case Iraqi it's more close but he is Lebanese.

Distance is very overrated. Choose samples that makes the most sense based on known ancestry, and try not to use more than 3 or 4 of them in the same model to avoid overfitting (remember nMonte will always try to get the tightest fit to the data possible with the given references). As long as it is not too high (say, over 4%) you should be fine. Never rank models based on distance.

Well since the Iraqi is already Levantine a lot I’d say they are about 75% Levantine so yes

Well Iraqis are pretty diverse, the database Iraqis are about 50% which seems reliable. I meant that the Lebanese half of the person in the OP is probably about 75-80% Levantine, and maybe 10% Mesopotamian

I agree with u, you think he has more arab admixture Than Levantine average (On his Middle East side) for this maybe give slow Mesopotamian ?

I talk with him yesterday and has one hidden data about him, he has one great grand parent Lebanese too so he is 62,5% Lebanese, maybe for this maybe give him around 50% Iraqi or Syrian, because he are a little bit more than 50% of middle eastern, the correct data is 62,5% Lebanese and 37,5% ( Spanish+N.Italian) I think now make more sense, maybe for this give for him more arab vibes than a half middle eastern. So it's compatible to 62,5% Lebanese and 37.5% Italian North/Spanish? Tks
