Ok, his results

Euro K15:

He looks much more mixed than what his results demonstrated. Does he have recent foreign ancestry?

Yes, basically Italian. In fact his pop aprox. is basically Italian mostly:

Using 1 populations approximation
1 100% Italy_Liguria @ 8,457
2 100% Italy_Lombardy @ 8,985
3 100% Italy_Tuscany @ 9,145
4 100% Italy_Emiliaromagna @ 9,190
5 100% Italy_Veneto @ 9,363
6 100% Italy_Friuli @ 10,013
7 100% Italy_Trentino @ 10,902
8 100% Italy_Piedmont @ 10,981
9 100% Tuscan @ 11,272
10 100% France_Corsica @ 11,678

Is his SE Asian (Philippine) admix authentic or just some noise based on the calculator results?

Can you ask him to do Global 25? I think his G25 results would be interesting. Hardly any Latin Americans does G25, so I think it would be nice if more try out this test.

I can't say if it is or not. I mean, 3% is more or less 7th gen, so maybe he has an older background, but probably will never know about it.

I do think 3% is too much to be noise, giving the fact he got this amount at test and Gedmatch. About G25...I dunno if he would pay for it.

Hmm alright. People don't really keep genealogical records in Brazil about their origins?

Do you know any other Latin Americans that also does G25 and have you seen their results?

No, in fact many brazilians with "exotic" background lost their surnames. My family was one of those. Plus, Brazil had no proper rule regarding surnames until 1890 +/-

I see. But those with exotic background don't even pass orally their histories (at least those who know) to the next generation regarding their roots?

"Lost their surnames" as in they change their original surnames into Portuguese sounding ones to assimilate and integrate into Brazilian society?

Sometimes yes, sometimes not. I mean, Brazil is a Eurocentristic country, people usually only have some pride about their Euro heritage.

About surnames...imagine that when you arrive in a different country, they just cannot read your passport. Or understand your language. Or even worse, you do not have a passport.

That was more common in XIX Century that we can imagine. My family for example...probably had something wrote in Persian. Guys thought it was arab, surname was changed to "Libanio" (likewise someone from Lebanon, since most immigrants from ME were Lebanese). I don't know my Sart/Uzbek/Tajik surname because of this. I know some Armenians and Lebanese who had their surnames changed to their own names or animal names, etc.

Interesting. So your lastname is "Libanio"?

Can you read or speak Persian? Maybe at least if your family still kept some old documents, you can rediscover your original surname?

Also I remember you mentioned you visited Central Asia many times before, can you find your distant relatives there, at least through DNA testing?

No, my Grandfather had this surname.

And there's no documents left, since my grandfather died like 60 years ago...I found some distant relatives doing One-to-One matches but still too far.
