No, there is not much if anything genuinely 'progressive' about postmodernism. Least of all the oft-repeated mantra from its proponents that race and gender are merely 'social constructs' rather than objective realities. (Hierarchy is most definitely NOT the same thing as difference per se). To the contrary - such beliefs are deeply regressive and anti-Enlightenment. The basic tenets of the Enlightenment, for all its flaws, nevertheless remain sound: (1) the world is external to the observer and (2) through inquiry, reason and science we could learn about both ourselves and other species. In its place, postmodernism claims that there are no external truths, that everything is subjective and everything is guided by a mixture of feelings and power relations. Time for a fightback against such thinking.

Impressed by that position of you.

In Germany we now launched a anonymous website for scientists. Cause if their studies especially about race, medicine and climate change, do not fit the narrative, they face a hate campaign, loose funding and loose reputation.

I mean just look at James Watson.

I may be left-leaning, but I do believe that many of the ideas promoted by the likes of Foucault and Derrida were at best silly and at worst downright harmful.

What you say about the fact that German scientists have to leave to anonymity for what they are supposed to do as scientists?

Shameful.

Post-modernism is a mingle of romanticism and mastrubation.

From Plato to Ptolemy to Leibniz, philosophy was dependent on science.

Postmodernism denies all grand narratives including Marxism but all science outside of some physics is politically and economnically motivated statistical manipulation. Psychiatry is example number 1 of captalist pseudo-science. the DSM-III's sucess was based on a statistical sleight of hand via Spiter and since then the newer DSMs has become bloated. The neoliberal capitalist class seeks to remove itself from the problems it creates in society by removing the community as the site of change to the individual e.g. psychiatric labels. ADHD does not exist rather it reflects the neoliberal capitalist class need for a more specialized or 'educated' workforce post-industralization and hence kids who used to be fine now are labelled for being well kids etc..

When I think of postmodern, this angel comes to mind.

Moreover, this is not just an abstract, academic discussion. For example, two years ago World Rugby issued a ban on transgender women from competing in women's rugby. Why? Because, even after testosterone reduction injections, they still have the physical body of a man, and especially in an aggressive contact sport like rugby that poses a significant danger to other female players. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/53476972

Also, am I the only one who finds it really grating when people (principally but not exclusively Americans) talk about "my truth"? Apparently, searching for the truth no longer matters, it is my truth (along with one's "lived experience", of course) that ultimately counts.

Along with race denialism and gender denialism, I should also add language denialism. This is the idea that one can be part of a nation without speaking its language(s). This is an argument made especially often by arrogant and disrespectful English-speaking ex-pats when they settle in other countries, though they aren't alone in this.
