Baikuntha Manandhar was a marathon gold medalist in 3 consecutive South Asian Games. He belongs to Newar occupational caste Sayami.
He's quite hard to classify. He looks pretty South Asian to me but I'm just curious that can he pass as East African?

I doubt it.
Skin colour aside, his features just don't look like they belong on that continent.
Long, narrow head, large forehead, square-ish jaw ...
Most facial features suggest Eurasia. Only the skin colour gives you the notion that he could be African.

Well, East Africans can have the long narrow head and large forehead but I can see that he doesn't look proper East African. No, the skin colour doesn't give me that notion. It's that his face is very progressive, robust and has tons of tribal influences.
He's pretty South Asian to me but he looks very tough to classify. How do you classify him??

I’m really awful at taxonomy lol. But honestly he has a pseudo mixed Melanesian look, he looks a bit like East Timorese

I'm totally unfamiliar with taxonomy, hence my use of lookalikes and racial approximations. I really have no knowledge of the required jargon, at all.
I can't shake the images of Mick McCarthy and James Delingpole, when I see the man above.
The former has a very similar skull and the latter a similar mouth.

I dont see east african.
he looks GI + NI + some paleo mong imo. he doesnt look that unique for any region in south asia tbh. has a generic face. i guess he's atypical looking for a newar. looks more pahari shifted.

Well, his features are typical for Newars than others in Nepal but the only difference is he's got more long and robust skull than many Newars.
