I have decided to change my name and of course I would be more then willing to accept your advise in what I should change it. I was thinking about taking the title of an old Dutch office as my name: a Raadpensionaris (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Pensionary) (litt. pensionary of the council- chairman of the council).
He was basically the forerunner of a Prime Minister during the days of the Dutch Republic) but I am not sure whether I should use the proper spelling (Raadpensionaris), the more accepted misspelling "Raadspensionaris" or the English translation "Grand Pensionary".

Why the idea of taking that old title as my name, well I have three reasons:

I am a huge fan of Johan de Witt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johan_de_Witt), one of the best politicians this beautiful country has ever known and together with his brother one of the best known martyrs and victims of the corrupt House of Orange.

a Grand Pensionary is comparable to a Lawspeaker so I am sticking to the theme.;)

I want to show that I am a staunch Republican and in favour of restoring the old Dutch Republic to it's former splendour - or better said to restore the souvereignty of the provinces.

Of course if any of you people have some other ideas I would be more then willing to listen.

Pensionaris, but you are only 26?! :p For some reason that doesn't sound very fitting to me. :wink

:) This (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pensionary) is where the title comes from. By the way I think that Johan de Witt was 28 when he was appointed to the office of Pensionary of Holland- thus Grand Pensionary of the Republic.

I don't like any of the potential name changes. Lawspeaker is easy to remember & to spell. Keep it.

"Grand Pensionary" evokes an obese, Slavic babitchka with a folkloric shawl who scolds other people's children, nags her husband, and complains that Jews have caused her potatoes to rot.

It is a name that lacks the memorable flair of, say, grand dragoness.

Sorry guys, gonna do this in Dutch.

"Vertaeler"...

Ergo "Vertaler" of "VertÆler"...:p

Hmm don't like the 3 names as a forum name. And I also don't have a good name in mind for you.

Keep Lawspeaker for a while :).
