Bravo sounds super-French.

He is of Spanish origin, he even is from the southern part of France

His father Daniel Bravo was a famous footballer from Toulouse

North atlantid plus slight faelid
This. I can see what people are saying when they say minor Med influence, but it isn't enough. No one would bat an eye if he was Dutch/British/etc.

This. I can see what people are saying when they say minor Med influence, kind of able to see it in the eyes, but it isn't enough. No one would bat an eye if he was Dutch/British/etc.

Doesn't look that French. Surname is of Iberian origins:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bravo_(surname)

You can see Spanish in him, but you can see French as well. Probably of mixed origins...

I tried to look up all around me, none of my neighbors look like him  :(

Apart from this disappointing discovery, he looks pretty French to me.

To me he looks stereotypically French, despite his origins, which it is not clear that are not French in some degree.

Yep, it's darn stupid.

Lucas Bravo is at most 1/2 Spanish (Catalan), possibly only 1/4.
His parents:

The mother is Corsican:

A kind of blend that isn't uncommon in Southern France (Lucas' father was born in Nice) and that challenges any precise classification attempt.

Neither of his parents look common Spanish, even the son could seem more Spanish than they. Both have quite foreign vibe, despite of the surname.

But if you say "Nice" or "Corsica", they will add also the label "mediterranean" to his classification in the same way they did when they noticed that Bravo could be an Spanish(maybe also Italian) surname.

Well...the father could be a mix between Michel Salgado and Xabi Alonso.:picard1:

For "the new york times" it would be a "person of color" just because of the last name.

Surely,in the same way as Antonio Banderas was.

I agree with you. They are letting his name and ethnicity influence they way they classify. That's how most people classify. The same person can be classified two different ways if he/she was given two different ethnicities.
