Interesting YouTube discussion with one of the authors of the Viking study (Sturla Ellingvåg):

After 18:00 they say, that most likely some descendants of Germanic people who had settled in Southern Europe, later returned to Scandinavia.

But by the time of returning to Scandinavia they were already heavily mixed with local Southern Europeans, some even had >50% of such DNA.

It is known since antiquity, that Heruls and some Goths and maybe Rugii did return.

If this will not teach something autosomaltards, then probably nothing else will help them. Lost cases.

Haven't watched the video yet, it seems somewhat far-fetched (to have that much of an impact), but if this is what they're finding then I'm willing to believe it. It also makes more sense of significant British/Irish ancestry in Scandinavia. Early Medieval Scandinavia's population must have been tiny.

Why not slaves ? Vikings raided south european nations for centuries that's well known or am I missing something ?
