I attempted to run Xiongnu samples in Gedmatch who are published in A dynamic 6,000-year genetic history of Eurasia’s Eastern Steppe (https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.25.008078v1#:~:text=Summary,the%20Xiongnu% 20and%20the%20Mongols.&text=Here%20we%20reveal%20its%20dynamic,pastoralis t%20expansion%20into%20Mongolia%20ca.). The raw data's recently published.

Prestige items during the Early Xiongnu period are dominated by large bronze belt pieces; however, burial customs within graves of the Early period varied to a great degree between regions. One example of this occurs at Salkhityn Am cemetery, where rituals of ring graves show a high degree of variation, even including offerings of whole horses that are more typical of Altai elites such as those in Pazyryk graves. (Ölziibayar et al., 2019) We analyzed individuals from three Early Xiongnu sites in this study: Astyn Gol (AST), Buural Uul (BAU/BRL/BUU), and Salkhityn Am (SKT)

SKT007

No relative has been found.

This sample marked as a sole different genetic group than others among all that is probably because of being mixed.

Assigned y-DNA: Q-L330

There is something striking here:

1 33% Finnish + 33% Ket + 33% Burusho @ 12,858

Ket: Baykal/Altay/Yenisey - paternity.
Burusho: BMAC, IE.
Finnish: Steppe, EHG - maternity.

He is a continuum of the samples that are from BA and EIA, which I had evaluated in the past as candidates for Proto-Turkic. Bashkir appears to be closest to them as in the rest. What is interesting here is this sample also can be modeled with 50% modern Altaian and 50% European that shows how strong Steppe input was.

First one is closer to Mongols. But still has some Steppe admix. Second one is more Turkic.
