Nationalism is the only ideology that can be employed in Bulgaria when it comes to keeping up with yhe country's citizens, according to Volen Siderov, leader of the controversial far-right Ataka (Attack) party, who is also a presidential candidate.
The word "nationalism" has been compromised in Bulgaria, but European attitudes lean towards it, Siderov has pointed out, as cited by the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency.
Siderov condemned what he perceived as growing neoliberalism in Europe and Bulgaria, declaring that the state should participate more intensively in the country's economy.
According to Siderov, the Bulgariam state should take over key economic sectors, including energy. Wednesday marked Siderov's campaign tour as he visited the Northwestern town of Vidin.
Even though the electoral campaigns aiming to gather votes for the upcoming presidential and local elections in Bulgaria have started since months now, they officially open in Thursday.
The presidential and local elections will take place on October 23, and the campaigns should be closed on October 21, the Bulgarian Dnevnik daily reminds. The campaigns are allowed to be carried out only in Bulgarian.
