i wonder sometimes if it is the case that some people who are gay are in denial of being gay and think the “fix” is to become the opposite gender.

either way, i think you should encourage your friend to see a cognitive therapist and from there, let the cognitive therapist recommend a gender specialist to discuss transitioning.
