Or maybe even center-right?

Center-right by Euro standards. Center is as left as it could be called in good conscience.

I would call them the scum of the earth by any standard. It is unfortunate that the title has been taken, or I would refer to them as a basket of deplorables.

And by American standards? I'm asking because I'm a little confused because here in Russia many people associate the Democratic Party with leftists (in a negative tone), perhaps due to right-wing propaganda. But as far as I know liberalism is not a leftist ideology.

Why are you so negative about Democrats?

Center in economics, left in social matters. Bottom left quadrant on the US Cartesian politico-economic plane.

Go back to the Clinton and Obama era in foreign policy and come again.

The old guard of the Democrat party are unironically center-right.

However, the Old Left (JFK, Jimmy Carter, etc) does not exist politically anymore, and while many (mostly Gen X/Boomers) voters would still support a candidate stylised as a classical liberal, they are dying off, and the zoomers (even the more moderate ones) want someone further to the left. They think Obama was center right wing.

It's a generational schism due to the relative sizes of the Boomer and Millennial voting blocs relative to Gen X.

By American standards, they are "left" but the Party is dominated by the "moderate" Democrats who are really just Republican dick-s*ckers. They are a typical neo-Liberal party.

Center left.

There is nothing right wing about them, hell calling American Republicans right wing isnt correct from a historic point of view.
