Follow the logic :

1.) Check your sources are they academics or PHDs or amateur retards like Dienekes with his Dodecad or Davidski with his G25 and Eurogenes ?

2.) What is their motivation for telling you your ancestry ? Is it for scientific medical disease probability inference or is it commercial bullshit ? If the former , such as 23andme and AncestryDNA, their motivation is not to rock the boat or challenge your preconceived notion of who you are an therefore the latter are pseudo-science.

3.) This bears repeating : if it were not for people able to infer probability towards certain diseases via their ancestry then the politically correct forces of the world would not allow them to be able to do so. 23andme was circumscribed by the FDA so it no longer can be used for these purposes so it's Ancestry inference model can't be trusted if it ever could at all.

4.) Sure breaking down your ancestry into multiple constituent parts is fun but not really useful in the grand scheme of things unless you are a scientist using qpAdm/admixtools using ancient samples to gain insights but for most of us this is overkill. Yes, I currently have qpAdm/admixtools2 successfully installed on my computer but I'm not sure I'm ever going to use it since no one is paying to 'play scientist' and I could be spending my time making money instead for everything is either business or sex ultimately.

5.) From 1 we can infer amateur tools or commercial tools which are the most accurate by comparing the latter results to the more authoritative former.

So, let me begin for 1 :

My results :

^It is not labelled but my closest matches are in order of significance 1.) British in England and Scotland followed by 2.) CEPH Utah Whites a mix of Northern and Western Europeans but 2.) is not a European population and since I am American trying to infer Ancestry for reasons other than disease I can ignore 2 as not a source population

Impute.me is a non-profit genetics analysis site run by independent academics since August 2015. Our design goal is to provide analysis at the cutting edge of what is currently known and possible in genetics research. We try to provide this information in a manner that is as user-friendly as possible, but we are aware that it may be difficult to digest concepts such as polygenic risk scores and imputation confidence. Their difficulty level does not make them less crucial in genetic understanding. Few traits are governed by only a single gene or SNP.

A central part of the site is the creation of a guidebook for personal genome analysis (free preview). This book provides more in-depth explanations for many of the concepts involved and we highly recommend it as a guide to accompany your analysis. Additionally, we refer to the open-source code repository. Some aspects there may be fairly technical, but at least it provides a full, reproducible and auditable insight into how the genetics analysis is done. (New: Updates to the site will be announced at twitter).

Finally, we welcome suggestions for other analysis types, particularly if you can program them yourself - the system is highly modular and can easily be extended even with just a limited knowledge of R-programming and genetics.

^ Legit ! Super legit ! Not some amateur jackasses. Is it as fine-grained as I would like ? No, but it's hard to argue with the results especially when compared with 2.) below :

2.) You may get tired of hearing about this from me but yes, SPA, from UCLA there used to be another from interpretome from Stanford University but it does not exist anymore.

^ you can check the credentials online but it was worked on by PHD professors and graduate students ;the latter under the formers' supervision old but super legit ! etc...

So, based on this what are the other tools or commercial service(s) that are 'legit' ? Despite TheMaestros potential protestations to the contrary I'm going to have to go with mytrueancestry :

Honorable , mention goes out to Eurogenes K15 but overall GEDmatch including Eurogenes gets grade D instead of A its basically a clusterfuck and G25 is too fine-grained and uses non-academic samples for modern populations so it is trash when you have qpAdmn/Admixtools for ancient stuff.
