Pretty interesting mix of South, North, East and Caucasian. Some people look kinda Georgian.

They looks distinctly Moldovan, and this set is very alien for my people in comparison. They are shorter with rounder, softer and fleshier features, honestly they look very eastern.
Mix between east Balkan, east Slavic and some Turkic influenced types, this mix is distinctly Moldovan I guess. And they are bit darker haired than Croats.

Except in Moldova I'd place them in Bulgaria and southern Ukraine, but as a group they probably only fit in Moldova well.

Also very different looking from Transylvanian Romanians I saw during my travels there, not a big overlap at all.

Yes, as I said, some individuals look familiar, others look off, in group they cannot pass for romanian moldovians. Maybe moldovians from other regions look different but I'm talking about this pictures only.

Yes. I lived in Iasi for a while, I'm very familiar with north moldovian look. They don't look similar for sure.

Looking at surnames you will understand why. There are some assimilated East Slavs on one hand and on the other some weird surnames like Preguza, Chiminjer that could have come from some mysterious ethnicities. Obviously, they are all Moldovan/Romanian now by ethnic self-identification and I am sure that genetically too they will fit within my averages for Moldova. But phenotypes don't work in the same manner and rather indicate some of the physical features of your immediate parents and then I guess they also pick by random selection what is available from the pool of their ancestors. If the weight of exotic ancestries like East Slavs and then apparently an unknown element like in Voinova is higher, then also the likelihood of an interesting phenotype increases.

As far as their looks go, they are pretty standard as in most localities. As a group they sit on a gradient that connects East Balkans to Ukraine, and individually there are cases that pull more into one direction or the other, and then those who are more balanced.

Literally none from my experience, considering that in the capital live people from all over the country and I have lived here all my life. What genetic differences exist, don't really manifest themselves physiologically. Differences can be seen more on a village level, where some phenos might be stronger than in others, rather than geographic. But in groups it's not obvious who's from where.

This is the village from where Daoski have some ancestry. No need to be a big anthrotard to see much higher frequency of more northern Slavic influenced types. And yes, they score more Baltic on average, sometimes pretty much.

In the thumbnail for example it is 50/50. At the sequence 1:47-1:52 it's more Chisinau-like but with more homogenous facial traits between them since they are from the same small locality. Some of course are more atypical, but still hardly confusable with Russians for example. Pretty much the same faces as anywhere, but with different frequencies depending on the locality. These differences will be less obvious in the future, considering how the capital followed by medium sized towns are the "big attractors". Genetically, there isn't much of a correlation with phenos in Moldova at least. We've all seen how people in Caplani look and how they score. And separately I have seen perhaps about 30 people from Moldova together with K13 results. I simply don't post the photos.

Russians? These are generic Eastern Slavic influenced types, which happen to be more in the north due to continuous contacts with Ukrainians since Medieval times. You find them familiar because, as a all, Moldavians look homogenous from having some basic phenotypic traits, like brachycephaly for example, who are common for entire population from North to South.

Such faces as a group for example, I never seen in the capital despite plenty of Russian speakers live here.

I agree. Actually Szekelers are closest to Romanian average, even though, unlike "Moldovans", they are not ethnic Romanian... This is quite bizarre if you think about it, but it just shows there is no clear correlation between ethnicity and genes.

OP group is somewhere in between Central Romanians and Southern Russians. Compared to Romanian average people are shorter with much higher CM component and much less Med. Slavic influence is considerable but "East Nordid" (Slavic version of Aryan race) is almost absent...

I cherry-picked what from my perspective l perceive as an average for Chisinau. It's biased towards Moldovans/Romanians primarily, but some ethnic minorities also look like that. Perhaps because here it is not uncommon for them to have some Moldovan admixture.
