I'm having some right now, it's delicious. It's a quite cheap bottle of young red wine, had never heard of it before (picked it up to have a few glasses with my meal in the weekend). I thought the only thing SA exported these days was highly educated and disillusioned Afrikaner scientists, diamonds and ivory. :p
Haha yes SA wine is good quality for the price. :p

Please, suggest a couple of brands! I am a wine maniac, and I love trying them out. Of the non-European ones I've tried, I liked Californian, Australian and Chilean wines. But haven't tasted South African yet :icon12:

It's not wine, but talking about South African alcohol I suggest you try Amarula (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amarula) :p

It looks soft-flavored and creamy, is it like Baileys? :)

I've been sticking to SA wines for years. I love the shiraz wines that they produce down there.

South Africa indeed produces some great quality wines, and as mentioned earlier in this thread, the price vs. quality ratio is excellent.
In Finland you can get a bottle of SA red for 6-7€ when a comparable Italian or French wine would be over 10€.

I had no idea about South African wine. Ive never seen any of it before maybe just because there's so much wine here. I'll keep a lookout for them in future.
Shiraz has been mentioned do the other grape varieties do well there?.

South African wines are fantastic - when I used to drink, my fave was any of the Cape Red varietes.
