too tall and robust for your average Spaniard, no? his head seems to be slightly brachycephalized so there seems to be some Dinaric involved as well.

I would not think so, he is after all mostly Med and the CM element is not that rare in Spain when it is mixed with Med, tall Spaniards are more common than tall Portuguese and i would imagine rival the French for tallness.

Interesting that you are saying that Spaniards are taller than French.
I know two Austrian/ Spaniards mixed guys (not related) who happen to be around 188 and 192 cm tall, but than i played football with a lot of Spaniards who were around 175

I don't think the Spaniards are that short, the Atlanto Med type is quite tall anyway and France is very Alpine so there is that to contend with as well, Spanish are notably taller than central/southern Italians and probably no different to most of non German speaking central Europe.

I dont think i would connect it too much with phenotype classifications but after googling it seems French men are on average 5 cm taller, which makes sense to me

Do you have some statistics?

As far as I remember, Spanish are similar in height to Southern Italians.
I remember the Italian military data for males born in 1975-1980 and it ranged from 173 cm of Sardinians to 178 of Friulian/Venetians.
Nowadays is 2 cm taller.

Don't know what year that data is from but it seems a bit excessive, i don't really notice men unless they are much taller or shorter than average when going out as much as i notice women in general but certainly when in Spain the mean height seemed much the same as in France and also in France you don't notice men that are much above 6'1 like you do even in Belgium and Britain.

That makes sense, Spanish are probably 1 cm shorter than Venetians, im 180 cm and feel normal in Spain, a bit taller in Portugal and often shorter in the UK.

Data taken from the mandatory military service in Spain (until 1980). In 1980 was of 175 and I estimate that the average height has increased between 1 and 2 cm.

Ok, I was wrong, It's similar to the Italian average at that time (around 174.5-175 cm for the cohort born between 1975 and 1980).
The average of the North was 177cm, 173cm in the South.

Is there also a regional breakdown for Spain?

This is the only thing I can find. It is a comparison between Italy and Spain by regions

Is that from when you were riding a donkey in the hills of Spain and Portugal, classifying people?
