Old Bulgar haplogroup

this haplogroup was found in a 9th century Bulgar sample from Central Bulgaria:

There's a Bulgarian from Western Bulgaria carrying it today, his closest match being from the Turkic populated Xinjiang region in China.

I recall they were expecting him to be under L330, if these unpublished results are true then it is a surprise. However good to see that the recent effort of BulgarianDNA in order to test 2 modern Q individuals awarded with an SNP match.

For the information, the sample dates to the 9th century and from around the modern-day Kazanlik.

Y dna has everything to do with appearance. Those r1bs are hugely outnumbered by typical african y dna

I2a is uber european, been in europe for 22,000+ years not just south europe, but also north, west etc.

We havent got enough ancient dna to prove what illyrians carried but looks like j2b l283 has been in europe for at least 3500 years, not sure what your point is though or what makes you think these proto j2b l283 people spoke an indo european language? J people are usually dark skinned and these j2b people would have been dark skinned when they first settled in europe as they originated in asia/middle east

Maybe some illyrians that were heavily mixed with celts were more northern shifted than albanians. As for pure illyrians (proper), they were definitely more southern shifted than albanians as they wouldnt have had slavic or germanic input
