Would "Canarid" influence be out of the question? I believe the vast majority of spanish venezuelans have canarian origins and Lacava isn't of italian descent exclusively, could be half or even as low as 25% italian genetically. However, could be Berid too.

The guy is obsessed with Dracula, and the city of Valencia (Venezuela) is known as the "city of Dracula" since Lacava is the governor of Carabobo state (which Valencia is its state capital). There are squares named Dracula, and the school buses, the public transportation buses, and even the police patrols and what not, have a painted bat and the word "Dracula" written in, lol
