Here it says it's a Kurgan originated pheno. If it's so pontid steppe originated, how mediterranian people having very high EEF admixture are called pontid? I think Greek, med pontid should be labelled different than original steppe pontid.

According to one of the versions, the basis of the formation of the Pontic type was the expansion of the Yamnaya culture into the territory of the Trypillian culture. The men of the Trypillian culture were destroyed, and the women became the wives of the men of the Yamna culture. Later, this was superimposed on the culture of Corded Ware and the migration of the Scythians and Sarmatians.

there is more variation - Sergi considered them as a mix of Proto Europid and robust Dolicho/Meso- skulls

Basically what is nowadays classified as Pontid has very little to do with those people since Yamnaya are 60 % Karelian, 40 % Caucasus. (EHG/CHG)
