Only perhaps reason #2 is relevant to freedom. Racial inequality is a farce, and polarization has nothing to do with freedom ... unless they're counting the fact that leftists have taken up residence here, which they aren't.

Bear in mind, I'm not emotionally opposed to the idea that America might not be free. It demonstrably isn't. But I also don't care about rankings by institutions that never understood the American concept of freedom in the first place.

It's a neo-con organisation that seeks to promote democracy in nations that aren't keen on that sort of thing. There are staff in places such as Turkey, Iran, Kurdistan (lel), and all the way into whatever the fuck Burma wants to call itself today.

Objectively speaking the US is the least free country on earth. Relatively secure, yes, free no. African-Americans are by far the most incarcerated group of people on earth and likely in recorded history. Violent crime rates plummeted in the US with the implementation of mass incarceration of blacks and stop and frisk. So that's a good thing.
